Product Details – Heavy Duty Hook

The heavy duty hook uses an optimized magnetic circuit: either a single large‑diameter N52 neodymium magnet (≥50mm dia.) or two stacked N50 magnets to increase total flux. The magnet is fully potted inside a deep‑drawn or machined steel cup (wall thickness 3.5–5mm) using high‑viscosity epoxy to resist shear forces up to 300% of rated pull. The hook itself is forged from 4140 alloy steel, heat‑treated to HRC 38–42, and coated with black oxide or zinc‑nickel plating. A rubber bumper is optional to prevent surface marring on painted equipment. Unlike light‑duty variants, this heavy duty hook maintains ≥90% pull after 50,000 attachment‑detachment cycles. It also offers an operating temperature option up to 150°C using SmCo magnets.

Production Process – Heavy Duty Hook

  1. NdFeB strip casting and hydrogen decrepitation (or SmCo for high temp)
  2. Isostatic pressing and sintering in vacuum furnace
  3. Magnet slicing, grinding to ±0.05mm thickness
  4. Forging of steel cup (or CNC turning for prototype)
  5. Hook forging from 4140 steel, heat treatment, shot blasting
  6. Magnet stacking (if dual) and epoxy potting under vacuum
  7. Thread tapping (M10‑M20) or welding of threaded boss
  8. Full magnetization with Helmholtz coil verification
  9. Pull‑force test on 50mm steel plate: 100% for HD‑450 and above
  10. Zinc‑nickel or black oxide coating, then baking
